KEARNEY SOFTBALL ADJUSTS TIMES FOR FREMONT DOUBLEHEADER:
Due to the extreme heat in Kearney continuing through this evening, Kearney Softball has pushed back the start times of the doubleheader against Fremont today at Patriot Park.
The Bearcats will now start their first matchup with the Tigers at 5:30 instead of the originally scheduled 5 PM. The second game will follow with an anticipated start time at 8 PM.
Kearney recently had their Lincoln Northeast matchup postponed to Monday, Aug. 28 due to the extreme heat in Lincoln.
STORM ANNOUNCE TRADE WITH CAPITOLS:
The Tri-City Storm has announced a transaction with the Madison Capitols ahead of the 2023-2024 regular season.
The Storm has acquired a 2nd Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase II Draft, and a 3rd Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft from the Capitols in exchange for goaltender Patriks Bērziņš, and a 10th Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft.
Patriks Bērziņš, 19, of Talsi, Latvia, was acquired by the Storm on January 18th, 2023.
He made his debut for the organization on January 20th, 2023, in a 4-0 shutout victory on the road against the Omaha Lancers.

OHTANI WON’T PITCH REST OF SEASON DUE TO TORN ELBOW:
Shohei Ohtani won’t pitch for the rest of the season because of a torn ligament in his right elbow, Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Wednesday night.
The Angels don’t yet know whether the major league homers leader and 10-game winner will need surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament for the second time.
Ohtani had his first Tommy John surgery in late 2018, following his AL Rookie of the Year season.
