“Today was a really good start for us to our season. With only 2 state qualifiers returning I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially since we were playing the defending Class B State Champions. The team really responded and played well, especially late in matches. We were able to win 4 of the 5 matches decided by 2 games. In many of those matches we were trailing at some point in the match. Asher and Aydan both had dominant days only losing 3 games between them in their 6 matches. They both played really consistent tennis in both singles and doubles. Asher does a great job of attacking when he has an opening, but he also is an excellent counter puncher. Nathaniel is last year’s Class B #1 Singles Runner-up. There were many times in the match Asher would scramble and have to answer his opponent’s shot with a better one. Aydan did a great job of staying patient and forcing his opponents into errors. Overall this was a great team win. This match had a state tournament type atmosphere. It was awesome to see our guys respond to the big moments with positive energy. We did a great job of seizing the momentum late in matches.” – Head Coach KHS Boys Tennis Troy Saulsbury
