“Our depth was a big difference in today’s match. We showed that our team was stronger than Grand Island, especially at the bottom of our lineup. Kyler Eklund and Drew Welch both had outstanding days not losing a game in their two matches. Kyler and Drew both did a great job of hitting solid groundstrokes that either forced an error from their opponent or set themselves up to hit an aggressive, offensive shot. In doubles, Kyler and Drew utilize these solid groundstrokes to set each other up for put away shots at the net. Overall, I was very pleased with our performance today. With the Doubles Invite Saturday, we have focused a lot of our practice time on doubles. We won all 3 doubles matches convincingly today. We are becoming more aggressive in our doubles play. Even though our focus this week has been doubles, I was pleasantly surprised we won our 4 singles matches by 8-0 scores. Asher, Drew, Brayden, and Kyler all played very smart singles matches.” – KHS Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
