LINCOLN – Bearcats finish 3rd at Lincoln Pius Invitational

Team Scores:  Lincoln East 48, Lincoln Southwest 38, Kearney 32, Lincoln Pius 25, Crete 24, GICC 23, Omaha Skutt 20, Lincoln Standing Bear 8
#1 Singles – Asher Saulsbury 3-1 2nd Place.
“Asher was very dominant in pool play.  Asher did an excellent job of getting depth on his groundstrokes and didn’t allow his opponents any easy opportunities.  Asher also excels at extending ralleys and getting another shot back.  Many times this causes his opponents to overhit later in the match, as they know the ball is going to come back.  Asher defeated last year’s Class B State Champion Aiden McDowell 8-1, before losing in the finals to last year’s Class A State Champion Hunter Nelson.” – KHS Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
#2 Singles – Aydan Nelson 2-2 5th Place.
#1 Doubles – Drew Welch/Kyler Eklund 2-2 5th Place.
#2 Doubles – Brayden Kohtz/Kyler Nichols 3-1 3rd Place.
“Brayden and Kyler continue to get stronger with each outing.  Their only loss was to Lincoln Southwest.  Brayden and Kyler are becoming more aggressive at the net.  They are recognizing when to move at the net to pick off shots.” – KHS Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
“Overall the team had another strong day.  Today was about learning how to finish points and finish games.  Many of the matches we lost, we had opportunities to win games. We just couldn’t close them out.  Overall I like the strides we have made in these first few meets.” – KHS Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
