“Overall today was another solid finish for us. With all 5 teams finishing in the Top 4, it really shows that we can compete with the top teams in the state. In his first match of the day, Asher Saulsbury broke the school record for career wins (singles and doubles combined). He now becomes the winniest boys tennis player in Kearney High history. Sam Rademacher set the mark of 152 wins last season. Asher surpassed this mark and now stands at 156 wins. Asher had no problem in his first 3 matches today. Asher had to play a different style than he is used to against Lincoln Southeast. Asher did a nice job of adjusting and playing more aggressively than he is used to to pull away for his fourth win of the day. Asher lost 8-4 to Lincoln East in the finals.
Aydan Nelson had a stellar day for us at number 2 singles. Aydan was able to pull out wins in two tiebreaker matches to start the day. Aydan did a great job of raising his level of play today. He was able to sustain rallies with good depth. Aydan did well to recognize the most opportune times to hit attacking shots.
Ty Schall also had a strong day. This invite is unique with the added 3rd singles division. Ty did an excellent job adding to our depth and finishing 3rd in #3 singles. Ty played very consistent. Many of his opponents struggled with his pace and depth on his shots.” – KHS Boys Tennis Coach Troy Saulsbury
