BARTLESVILLE, OKLA. – The Nebraska Kearney women’s golf team shot a 36-hole total of 615 to place eighth at the Central Regional Preview Tuesday in Bartlesville, Okla.
The two-day, 18-team event was hosted by Rogers State at the par 72 Hillcrest C.C. (5,928 yards) and featured teams from the MIAA, Great American Conf. (GAC) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf. (NSIC).
UNK had efforts of 307 and 308 to place ahead of five MIAA rivals as well as five GAC schools. Central Oklahoma was 11 strokes ahead in seventh with Central Missouri (579) edging Henderson (Ark.) State by a stroke for the title.
Colombian junior Juliana Botero Molina led the way with a 6-over 150 (75-75) to tie for 18th place. Her tournament included 28 pars, tied for the tourney lead. Next, Kansas senior Allison Comer was two places back (151; 74-77) as she parred 25 holes.
UCM’s Mia Rallo and HSU’s Allie Bianchi both had a 2-under 142 after regulation play with Rallo winning a two-hole playoff to earn medalist honors.
Also for UNK, Kansas true freshmen Liz Lyons (T-48th/158; 78-80) and Claire Berquist (T-57th/160; 84-76) were in the top 60 as was Kansas sophomore Beth Grant (T-57th/160; 82-78) playing as an individual. Finally, Missouri junior Brooke King tied for 69th (163; 80-83). Both Berquest and Botero Molina were 1-under on par 5 holes with Comer one of the scoring leaders on par 3 holes (2.88 avg.).
The Lopers return to Oklahoma early next week for the annual Grace Shin Memorial in Edmond.
