KEARNEY – The Kearney girls golf team withstood the wind to earn a runner-up finish at the Awarii Dunes golf course on Monday afternoon, shooting a team total of 375 and earning a bid to the Class A state championships next week.
The Bearcats ended with three teammates in the Top Ten, as Addi Peterson shot a 90, Lauren Lydiatt had a 92, and Morgan Dowhy ended with a 95 to finish seventh, ninth, and tenth respectively.
Olivia James shot a 98 while Kaylee White ended her day with a 102.
The Bearcats fell behind Omaha Marian, shooting a team total of 329 and taking the A-3 District Championship. North Platte was third with 383. All three teams qualify for the State Championships.
The Class A State Championship meet will take place at Grand Island’s Riverside Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10 next week. Both days will begin an 18-hole performance at 9 AM.
