KEARNEY – For the first time in four years, the Nebraska Kearney women’s golf team will play at home.
The annual Nebraska Intercollegiate, bringing together men’s and women’s collegiate programs from around the state, will take place this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 6-7) at Awarii Dunes in Axtell.
The event is hosted by the Nebraska Golf Association (NGA) with action beginning Friday at 1 p.m. and then at 10 a.m. on Saturday (shotgun start both days). The event is free and open to the public. Last year at Norfolk C.C., Wayne State (women) and Southeast C.C. (men) took home team titles. UNK’s varsity didn’t take part but a “B” squad did and finished runner up.
The Lopers haven’t played at home since Sept. 2019 when they hosted the MIAA Preview at Awaii. Thus, no current player has ever took part in a home event. For the 2024-25 season, UNK will host two events (one in the fall & one in the spring).
