GRAND ISLAND, NEB. — A groundbreaking ceremony for the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Grand Island will be held on Friday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at 3270 West Capital Avenue. The public is welcome to attend.
The ceremony will be emceed by Hall County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) Don Shuda and will include:
- Presentation of Colors by the United Veterans’ Color Guard
- National Anthem performed by the Northwest High School Band
- Pledge of Allegiance led by Hall County CVSO Don Shuda
- Invocation by Dan Naranjo
- Remarks from U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts, Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, District 35 Senator Ray Aguilar, Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele, Hall County Board Member Pamela Lancaster, and Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director John Hilgert
- Patriotic Song performed by Trenna Edwards
- Firing Salute, “Taps”, and Retiring of Colors by the United Veterans’ Color Guard
Lunch will be served after the ceremony, courtesy of Dan and Korinna Naranjo, at the United Veterans Club at 1914 West Capital Ave.
