GRAND ISLAND — Criminal charges are pending regarding a single vehicle fatal accident that occurred southwest of Grand Island during the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 16.
Around 1:40 a.m., the Hall County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of Schauppsville Road and Wildwood Road for the report single vehicle injury accident.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Quentin Scroggin, 19, of Grand Island, was driving recklessly northbound on Schauppsville Rd. near Wildwood Road.
Scroggin lost control of the vehicle and it rolled. He was injured in the crash and transported by ambulance to CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
There were five passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident and two were ejected.
One of the ejected passengers, Brennan Villatoro, 18, of Grand Island, was declared deceased at the scene. The remaining passengers were transported to CHI St. Francis for their injuries.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office believes alcohol was a factor in the accident and criminal charges are pending.
An accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to assist in the investigation, which remains open.
