GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island woman was arrested for attempting to shoplift at Walmart on Black Friday, she was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Friday, Nov. 24, around 9:10 p.m., officers with the Grand Island Police Department were dispatched to the Walmart location at 2250 N. Diers Avenue in reference to shoplifting.

Officers made contact and identified Yudisleydis Guillen Martinez, who allegedly scanned the tag of an underpriced item to pay a lower amount.

Martinez was contacted past the final point of sale and provided a receipt that totaled $41.16 and did not match the items in her cart. The actual total should have been $325, according to Grand Island Police.

A criminal history records check revealed Martinez had two prior convictions for shoplifting and she was placed under arrest.

A search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia in her purse.

Martinez was arrested for shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
