AURORA, NE – A preliminary hearing for an Aurora man accused of stabbing his family has been delayed for a mental health evaluation.
Caleb Arnett, 29, was in Hamilton County Court Tuesday for a scheduled preliminary hearing that’s now delayed. Arnett’s attorney asked the court to permit an independent mental evaluation of Arnett to see if he can stand trial.
Arnett is currently charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
The judge allowed the motion, and the next court date is scheduled for Tuesday January 30, 2024.
