West Second Street Taco Johns (Carol Bryant, Central Nebraska Today)
GRAND ISLAND — The Taco John’s at 1007 W. Second St. closed at 5 p.m. Dec. 31, leaving two Taco John’s open in Grand Island, Dawn Luther, manager of the Taco John’s at 1408 S. Locust, said Thursday morning.
Locations at 2210 N. Webb Road and 1408 S. Locust St. are still open, according to Luther and a sign at the Second Street location.
The Second Street location had “at least 12 employees,” Luther said. “Times were changing, and it was hard to keep it staffed and build the sales.”
The Second Street location had been open 45 years, Luther said.
A handwritten sign on a window at the West Second Taco John’s said, “This location is permanently closed. Our Webb Road and South Locust locations are still open. Sorry for the inconvenience. We thank you for your support.”
