HASTINGS — Monday, Feb. 26 was a record-breaking day across two of the Tri-Cities. Grand Island and Hastings both set new high temperatures during the day.
The Grand Island Central Nebraska Regional Airport hit a high temperature of 78 degrees on Monday. The old record was 75 degrees, which went all the way back to 1896, when weather records were first starting to be kept.
The Hastings Airport recorded a high temperature of 76 degrees, the past record was 74, which had been set back in 1986.
The National Weather Service – Hastings noted that Grand Island and Hastings broke their high temperature record by noon on Monday, far before peak heating occurred during the afternoon.
