KEARNEY — The City of Kearney on behalf of Midwest Movers and Trails and Rails Museum announces that on Friday, March 1, 2024 a building will be moved into Kearney to the Trails and Rails Museum.

Within City limits, traffic will be impacted temporarily between the approximate hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the following roadways:

  • 1st Street – between East Kearney Expressway and Central Avenue
  • Central Avenue – between 1st Street and Talmadge Street,
  • Talmadge Street – between Central Avenue and 10th Avenue
  • 10th Avenue/3rd Street – between Talmadge Street and Yanney Avenue
  • Yanney Avenue – between 3rd Street and 11th Avenue
  • 11th Street – between Yanney Ave and 6th Avenue

Motorists should expect delays, lane closures, complete closures, and temporary detours on these roadways when the building is being moved through these areas.

The Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) signal at the hike-bike trail crossing near Yanney Park will be non-operational during this time. Trail users are urged avoid the 11th Street area during this time, or to utilize the 15th Avenue traffic signal to cross 11th Street.

Motorists should utilize alternate routes if possible to avoid these areas, and should be aware of street crews, utility crews, and the Kearney Police Department; all of which will be assisting the moving crews along the above listed haul routes.
