HASTINGS — The intersection of Burlington Avenue and 14th Street is now open
The Nebraska Department of Transportation’s contractor – IES Commercial, Inc. of Holdrege completed the upgrade work for the traffic signals at the intersection of Burlington Avenue and 14th Street on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The intersection was upgraded with all new signal cable, a new controller, and added radio antenna for interconnect.
The NDOT Traffic Signal engineers programmed the controller, and the intersection was opened to traffic just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29. Having this busy intersection open should bring traffic that was detoured to other streets back to the intersection.
The intersection of Burlington Avenue and Ninth Street is now closed
The contractor moved onto the intersection of Burlington Avenue and Ninth Street to upgrade those signals. The upgrade will include all new signal cable, a new controller, and an antenna for interconnect. The amount of work is less than previous intersections, so upgrade work and programming of the new controller should be completed next week (before March 8).
