KEARNEY — The Kearney Community Theatre is currently presenting the musical, “The Spitfire Grill.”

The Spitfire Grill is an American musical with music and book by James Valcq and lyrics and book by Fred Alley, based on the 1996 film of the same name by Lee David Zlotoff.

“A feisty parolee is trying to find a place for a fresh start, and based on a page from an old travel book, travels to the small town of Gilead, Wisconsin. The local sheriff, who is also Percy’s parole officer, finds her a job at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill – the only eatery in this struggling town,” the Kearney Community Theatre (KCT) said of the show.

“The Spitfire Grill is for sale. But with no interested buyers, Hannah decides to raffle it off. Entry fees are one hundred dollars and the best essay on why you want the grill wins. Soon, mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow full and things are definitely getting hot at the Spitfire Grill,” per the KCT.

The show is suitable for older youth and adults.

The next show dates are Thursday, March 7, Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday March 10 at 2:30 p.m.
