HASTINGS — The Tri-Cities and surrounding area will be under a Red Flag Warning due to the critical fire weather conditions that will be in place this afternoon.
The National Weather Service – Hastings has issued the warning, which will last from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The entire areas will have low relative humidity, but the main concern focuses on wind gusts which will be over 25 mph.
“Any fires that ignite may spread rapidly and exhibit extreme fire behavior. Use extreme caution if engaging in activities that could result in fire ignition,” NWS Hastings states.
Wind gusts around the Tri-Cities are expected to peak in the afternoon hours, 3-5 p.m. Relative humidity will also be the lowest during this point.
