KEARNEY — Kearney High School SciOly team competed with over 299 students from area schools in the ESU10 Regional Science Olympiad hosted at UNK on Tuesday March 12, 2024. KHS Science Olympiad students competed as teams in events designed to showcase their STEM knowledge and engineering skills. The KHS SciOly team placed 2nd place overall.

Individual honors include:

1st place:
Geologic Mapping: James Padgett and Rebecca Nebbe,
Tower: Noah Burbul and Kojo Tenkorang;

2nd Place
Chemistry Lab: Oscar Hanson and Adan Ciprian;
Experimental Design: Oscar Hanson, James Padgett, and Lane Krukemeyer

3rd Place:
Astronomy: James Padgett and Rebecca Nebbe
Dynamic Planet: James Padgett and Jacob Dimmitt

4th Place:
Anatomy & Physiology: Jacob Dimmitt and Shayne Donovan

Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization founded in 1984 that provides students with opportunities to compete in standards-based STEM challenges. Over 6,000 teams compete in all 50 states in over 425 tournaments. The KHS team is looking forward to their next competition at the Nebraska State Science Olympiad Competition on Saturday, April 27, 2024. The KHS SciOly Team and their advisors would like to thank the KPS Administration team for their support, especially Jeff Ganz and Dr. Dan Endorf, ESU 10 for hosting this event and KPS for their participation in the High Ability Learner (HAL) Consortium.
