A tree knocked down by an EF-1 tornado that swept through Rockville on April 26, Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today

LINCOLN — Governor Jim Pillen has issued an emergency declaration in the aftermath of severe weather that started April 25 and continued through April 27, resulting in damage from thunderstorms, high winds, rain and reported tornadoes.

Counties covered in this declaration include Douglas, Washington, and Lancaster.

The declaration allows for use of the Governor’s Emergency Fund, established under the authority of the Nebraska Emergency Management Act, to address conditions resulting from these storms.

Per Neb. Rev. Stat. §81-829.40(3), the Governor is required to sign a State of Emergency Proclamation before the fund is available for use.
