GRAND ISLAND — The Heartland United Way and Greater Grand Island Community Foundation hosted the 11th annual Go Big GIVE event on Thursday, May 2 raising over $1,514,901 with 5,294 donations for 155 local nonprofits in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties!
Go Big GIVE is a 24-hour online giving event encouraging everyone to be a philanthropist when they visit GoBigGIVE.org and make a gift to local nonprofits with various missions. Donors also have the opportunity to support them all with a single gift called “Support Them All.” Through this giving day, each participating nonprofit shared their story to gain the support of community members, donors, advocates, and volunteers.
The first Go Big GIVE day was in 2014 and raised $251,984 for 66 nonprofit organizations . Collectively, over 10 years, Go Big GIVE has raised a total of $9,095,328 in addition to this year’s total of $1,514,901. Go Big GIVE has impacted over 220 nonprofit organizations in the four county area over the last 11 years. Sponsors have contributed over $961,432 in match pool funds and incentives.
Generous sponsor support provided over $131,250 in match pool funds and incentive prizes this year. Sponsors were Hornady Manufacturing, Virgil Eihusen Foundation, Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, Heartland United Way, Lutz, the “Bud” and Gloria Wolbach Foundation, Five Points Bank, Hamilton Community Foundation, Merrick Foundation, ALLO, AMGL, Roe Buick, AMUR, Bruning Bank, CHI Health St. Francis, Equitable Bank, Essential Personnel, FNBO, GTA, Heritage Bank, Home Federal Bank, Nebraska State Fair, Nova-Tech, Unity Eye Centers, Walmart, & Wortman Enterprises.
