The EF-1 tornado passing north of Ravenna in Sherman County, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

OMAHA — Officials from multiple law enforcement agencies and the Nebraska National Guard will provide an update on scene security at areas in Douglas and Washington Counties that suffered significant damage from the Arbor Day Tornadoes last Friday.

The update will occur at 1 p.m. today, May 3, at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, located at 3601 N. 156th Street, Omaha, NE, 68116. The briefing will include the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Omaha Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, and the Nebraska National Guard.

Following the briefing, media are invited to travel to one of the locations where National Guard personnel have been deployed to get video and photos of the work being done. Media will be escorted to the area in groups to avoid causing additional traffic while responders continue to work. We ask that media outlets limit your personnel to one photographer and one reporter for this brief tour. The tour will not enter secured areas but will focus on the security operations performed by members of the National Guard.
