LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a short pursuit in eastern Lancaster County.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., a trooper observed a motorcycle speeding on Cornhusker Highway in eastern Lincoln. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcycle accelerated and fled at a high rate of speed. The trooper initiated a pursuit as the motorcycle exited Lincoln eastbound on Cornhusker.

The motorcycle continued on Highway 6 into Waverly where it turned into a residential area. The trooper discontinued the pursuit out of concern for public safety. A short time later, another trooper observed that the motorcycle had crashed in the parking lot of Waverly High School. Troopers and a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy called for an ambulance and rendered aid to the rider.

The rider, Jarret Bruckner, 31, of Lincoln, was transported to Bryan Health West Campus with minor injuries. Once medically cleared he was lodged in Lancaster County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving under the influence .15+, and traffic violations.
