Platte River Prep Basketball

KEARNEY – A new basketball development program has arrived to aid local talent in Central Nebraska.

JD Carson and Chase Dippel have joined together to create Platte River Prep, a basketball development program set to teach fundamentals and skills for area athletes from their coaching experience at differing levels.

Carson, the current Amherst Girls basketball head coach and former Kearney Bearcat girls coach, has over sixteen years of coaching experience at the middle school, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity athletic levels for high school athletes. The Kearney High School graduate was also a three year varsity player in his prep career, finishing as a state semi-finalist and quarterfinalist in 2007 and 2008.

Dippel arrives in Central Nebraska as a clinician for the Midwest Elite Basketball Camp since 2016. Dippel was also the Midwest Elite Basketball co-Coach of the Year in 2019, while also being an assistant coach for Baker University Men’s Basketball from 2021-2023. Dippel’s coaching experience also includes stops at the University of Saint Mary (2015-17), Ottawa University (2017-18), Emporia State (2018-2020), and Missouri Baptist University (2020-21).

The pair has also recently been named as the next addition to the Amherst girls basketball staff, with Dippel joining Carson as an assistant.

There are several summer programs available for later this year, with options available from fifth grade through upcoming seniors in high school and for boys and girls athletes. For more information on programs, pricing, availability, and much more check out their website here.

Dippel and Carson recently joined sports director Austin Jacobsen for an episode of KGFW’s Talk of the Town, speaking on why they began the program, more details on their passion and vision for Platte River Prep, and more. Click here to listen to their interview.
