GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island woman was arrested after she was found to be driving under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana during the early morning hours of Thursday, May 16.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 1:05 a.m. an officer observed a blue Ford Focus turn north on Sycamore St. from 4th St. with a defective taillight.

The officer initiated a traffic stop at Sycamore St. and 8th St., but the vehicle continued at a slow rate of speed. It turned east onto 10th St. while the officer was utilizing lights and sirens.

The Ford would turn onto Saint Paul Rd. and finally stopping near 9th St.

The drivers identify the driver as Dotty Schleichardt and officers say she admitted to smoking methamphetamine and marijuana within the hour.

Marijuana was in plain view in an open purse. Three grams of methamphetamine and additional drug paraphernalia would also be located in the vehicle.

Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) would be given to Schleichardt and she would show signs of impairment. Schleichardt would submit to a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) and would give a massing sample.

A drug recognition expert evaluation was conducted and Schleichardt was found not able to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Schleichardt would be arrested for drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana – less than one ounce and driving under the influence – drugs, first offense.

She would be booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
