LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) will host a press event on Wednesday, May 22 to launch the Make It Click mobilization taking place May 20-June 2.
Seat belt use in Nebraska is one of the lowest in the country. Since 2021, 321 people died not wearing seatbelts in Nebraska. Law enforcement is teaming up across the U.S. to enforce seat belt use and educate drivers to save their lives and the lives of their passengers.
Drivers and passengers are 45% more likely to survive a crash if they are wearing their seat belts. Chris Haag, victim advocate, will be sharing from his personal experience on the importance of wearing seat belts, so everyone can come home to their families.
What: Law enforcement and safety officials will explain the campaign and promote seat belt use. Chris Haag, victim advocate, will tell the story of how his other reminded him to wear his seat belt that saved his life.
