GRAND ISLAND — Two women were arrested in Grand Island after they were accused of entering a trailer where a man was sleeping, assaulting him and stealing his phone and wallet on Saturday, May 25.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were dispatched at 2 a.m. to a property on North Broadwell Ave. to investigate the report of a robbery.
The reporting party, a 39-year-old male stated he was sleeping in a tractor trailer behind 208 W. 5th St. where he said four individuals entered the trailer, held him down and assaulted him.
The suspects were reported to have taken the man’s phone, valued at $300, and wallet which contained debit cards and $25 in cash.
On Sunday, May 26, around 11:55 a.m., GIPD officers would make contact with two women who were identified as Latifah Root and Sierra Lovejoy.
While speaking with Root, officers said she mentioned details of the reported robbery and later admitted to being involved in a physical altercation with a reporting party.
She said during the altercation she held the party down to avoid be struck but noted that Lovejoy and another male had taken the party’s cellphone. Root denied being involved in taking items from the trailer.
Lovejoy would admit to officers to being with Root during the incident, but denied ever entering the trailer but said that Root told her later that she had taken the party’s cellphone.
Both Root and Lovejoy would be arrested for robbery and booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
