GRAND ISLAND — A motorcyclist who fled law enforcement several times in the past was arrested after he tried to flee from a traffic stop on Wednesday, July 24.
Around 7:28 p.m., Grand Island Police Department officers observed a black Suzuki motorcycle driving westbound on Old Potash Highway with no license plate.
The male driver, wearing a black ski mask, white shirt and black backpack, would notice officers behind him and take off at a high rate of speed.
The officers would drive around 75 mph in an attempt to keep up with the motorcycle. The motorcyclist would look back at the patrol unit several times and begin passing vehicles and weaving in and out of traffic at speed.
Vehicles would slow down and attempt to move out of the motorcycle’s way. At one point, the motorcycle driver would cut across the cement of the roundabout on North Road and Old Potash, trying to lose officers.
The GIPD notes that there are several businesses, a school and residential homes in this area.
Later, officers would locate the motorcycle and suspect, Jake Jacquot on Thursday, July 25.
When Jacquot was located, he would be in possession of the ski mask and black backpack and the Suzuki motorcycle.
A records check would reveal that Jacquot does not have a motorcycle operator’s license. He would also not be able to provide a valid registration for the vehicle.
Per officers, Jacquot would admit to being involved in several flights to avoid arrest offenses.
Jacquot would be arrested for flight to avoid arrest, no vehicle registration, no motorcycle operator’s license and willful reckless driving. He would be booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
