HASTINGS — Hastings Utilities electric distribution crew members Journeymen Linemen Zach Beckenhauer and Ryan Hoover; and Apprentice Linemen Talyn Campbell and Triston Abraham left on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 1.

They responded to requests for mutual aid, going first to Lincoln to help Lincoln Electric System and then to Omaha to help utility Omaha Public Power District with repairs to their electric distribution systems following storms on July 31.

The HU crew left Lincoln on Monday, Aug. 5 for Omaha. According to an OPPD outage management map, there were still about 9,200 OPPD customers without electricity as of Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6.

In Lincoln and Omaha, the Hastings crew members have been putting up primary distribution wire and setting poles in behind houses that have no alley access for large trucks. The Hastings linemen also have been repairing customer overhead service wires.

The crew using HU pole setting equipment on tracks designed to fit through a 36-inch gate to get into customers back yards.
