HASTINGS — A missing man from St. Paul was found deceased by the Hastings Police Department on Sunday, Sept. 1.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, on Saturday, Aug. 31, around 1 p.m., the St. Paul Police Department received a report that James “Jimmy” Jacobsen was missing.

Jacobsen had left his home around 9:30 a.m. and was to go around to a few businesses in St. Paul. He should have returned a short time later but never did.

Chief Howard requested the Howard County Communications active the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department and EMS to assist in the search for Jacobsen.

The search was called off after an extensive canvas of St. Paul and Howard County. At this point, Jacobsen was entered as a missing person, per the St. Paul Police Department.

On Sept. 1, around 11 a.m., the Hastings Police Department reported that they had located Jacobsen deceased.

Foul play was not suspected, and no other information will be released at this time, per the St. Paul Police Department who noted that the family requests privacy and prayers during this time.

Chief Howard extended his thanks to Sheriff Hoff, the deputies of the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Howard County Communications, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department, Elba Volunteer Fire Department, Dannebrog Volunteer Fire Department, Palmer Volunteer Fire Department and all the citizens who assisted in the search.
