GRAND ISLAND – A Grand Island firefighter accused of sending sexual messages to a 13-year-old girl will have a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4.

Jared Stockwell, 47, of Doniphan was released from jail Aug. 29 on his own recognizance.

Stockwell’s attorney is Grady Erickson of Grand Island. Hall County Attorney Marty Klein is the prosecutor. The presiding judge is Hall County Judge Arthur Wetzel.

Stockwell is charged with enticement by an electronic communications device (Class IV felony) and committing intentional child abuse with no injury (Class IIIA felony) for a July 1 incident.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Department, during the investigation, it was determined that Stockwell sent indecent, lewd, lascivious, and obscene messages that were sexual in nature to a 13-year-old female.

Stockwell is listed as a member of the Grand Island Fire Department. Stockwell has been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is finished.

Stockwell was arrested on Aug. 28.

A number of court documents have been sealed. The investigation is ongoing.
