LEXINGTON — Dave Behle, Dawson Public Power District’s Economic Development & Key Account Executive, has been recognized with the Good Neighbor Award from the Nebraska Rural Electric Association.

The Good Neighbor Award program honors rural electric employees who go above and beyond to serve their communities. Behle, known for his behind-the-scenes work, has made significant contributions to the economic development of Nebraska.

“Dave’s dedication to fostering the growth of young entrepreneurs has been a significant positive impact on our program,” said Brennan Costello, Chief Business Relations Officer at the University of Nebraska Engler Entrepreneurship Program. “He has generously volunteered his time as a judge, coach, and mentor, offering guidance and support to our students.”

Behle’s impact extends beyond his role at Dawson PPD. He has actively worked with various organizations to promote economic development, including:
• Nebraska Enterprise Fund: Serving as board chair and actively participating in committees to support small businesses and entrepreneurs.
• Meat Processing Expansion: Securing a $15 million USDA grant to support meat and poultry processing businesses.
• UNL Engler Program: Mentoring students and helping them develop entrepreneurial skills.
• Community Partnerships: Collaborating with local communities and businesses to attract new industries and support existing ones.

“Dave believes in building partnerships and connecting businesspeople with resources and information,” said Marsha Banzhaf, Manager of Customer Service at Dawson PPD. “He’s helped several businesses and entrepreneurs succeed.”

Outside of his Dawson PPD career, Dave Behle has been active with his church, Buffalo County 4-H and officiating high school football. Family is very important to Dave and his wife Christie, who have four children and two grandchildren.

Behle’s commitment to his community extends beyond his professional role, making him a role model and a worthy recipient of the Good Neighbor Award.
