GRAND ISLAND — The owner of a Grand Island check cashing business was arrested for sexual assault of a child and third-degree sexual assault. His wife was charged with witness tampering.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers spoke with an adult woman in reference to reporting multiple sexual assaults. A total of four alleged victims would provide information related to multiple sexual assaults from July 2023 to the current date.
Officers reported that while speaking to a woman during an unrelated incident, a male identified as Terry Rawlings came up behind her and purposefully touched her buttocks which was unwanted by the woman.
This incident took place in front of GIPD officers.
The woman wanted to press charged and stated there were other woman, employed by Rawlings business that had been allegedly sexually assaulted by Rawlings in the past.
According to online records, Rawlings is the owner and operator of TA Latino Check Cashing.
Other victims came to the police department made reports of being sexually assaulted by Rawlings on several occasions over the past several years.
One of the alleged victims in the matter was only 11 years old when she was touched by Rawlings in a sexual manner at his business.
The following day, Flora (Gonzalez) Rawlings was arrested for tampering with a witness.
During the course of the sexual assault investigation, multiple women reported that Flora was told about the sexual assaults taking place at her business involving her husband.
It was reported to GIPD officers that Flora would laugh at the victims and advise them not to contact the police about the incidents. The women reported that Flora would threaten them with deportation or contacting an attorney.
Terry Rawlings was arrested for two counts of sexual assault of a child, child abuse and four counts of third-degree sexual assault.
Flora (Gonzalez) Rawlings was arrested for three counts of witness tampering.
