OVERTON — On Feb. 12, 2025 at approximately 5:36 a.m. the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office 911 center was contacted about a possible accident at mile marker 245 on Interstate 80.
A secondary vehicle was westbound when it struck the trailer of a stationary semi and trailer. The semi and trailer were stationary due to another semi on its side blocking both westbound lanes. Restraint use is unknown.
The driver of the secondary vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both semis were not injured. The name of this deceased driver is being withheld at this time pending notification of the next of kin.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Overton Fire and Rescue the Dawson County Attorneys Office and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
