OVERTON — The driver who was killed in an early morning accident on Interstate 80 near Overton has been identified.
The driver has been identified as Dejan Ajdanic, 52, of Chicago, Ill., according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 12, 2025 at approximately 5:36 a.m. the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office 911 center was contacted about a possible accident at mile marker 245 on Interstate 80.
A secondary vehicle, driven by Ajdanic, was westbound when it struck the trailer of a stationary semi and trailer. The semi and trailer were stationary due to another semi on its side blocking both westbound lanes. Restraint use is unknown.
The Ajdanic pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both semis were not injured. Winter weather conditions appeared to have been a factor in the accident, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Overton Fire and Rescue the Dawson County Attorneys Office and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
