BROKEN BOW — The Broken Bow Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a community wildfire safety class that is open to both firefighters/EMS personnel and community members.
The class will take place on Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Broken Bow Municipal Auditorium, 314 South 10th Ave.
The class will be presented by Ralph Maul and Brian Busse, with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal Training Division.
Discussion topics will include how the public can help, how you can stay safe and fire procedures and operations. There will be the opportunity to ask questions.

Several large wildfires have occurred throughout Nebraska in the past several years. Including the Betty’s Way Fire that started near North Platte and consumed 70,000 acres.
In 2022, 30,000 acres burned in southwest Nebraska after a fire started south of Elwood in Gosper County. Elwood Fire Chief Darren Krull was killed while responding to this fire, two vehicle struck each another amid heavy smoke conditions.
