KEARNEY — Throughout January, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) students at the Hanny Arram Center for Success engaged in a dynamic Career Development module through the educational platform Headrush. Students could focus on key areas such as Career Prep, Prepared Speaking, Employability Skills, and Financial Literacy.
After the module, students were invited to submit their work and a recorded presentation for the Career Development Conference (CDC) competition hosted by the United Way of the Midlands in Omaha. The top 15 students in each category statewide were selected to compete in Omaha on February 20, 2025. Hanny Arram Center for Success is proud to share that students achieved outstanding results, with at least one competitor in each category placing in the top 15 or 20.
HACS Students Advancing to the State CDC Competition:
- Devin Clark – Top 15, Employability Skills
- Salem Fleenor – Top 15, Financial Literacy
- Haidyn Nutter – Top 10, Career Prep
These students will compete live in Omaha. Haidyn will present and answer questions from a panel of judges. Devin will participate in a mock interview with Omaha-area employers, while Salem will be recognized and participate in a Financial Literacy discussion panel with FNBO employees.
Additionally, two Hanny Arram Center for Success students placed in the top 20 statewide:
- Viktor Collins – Top 20, Career Development-Middle School
- Faith Wilkins – Top 20, Prepared Speaking
Although Viktor and Faith did not advance to the final competition, their accomplishments earned them invitations to attend CDC in Omaha, where they will network with peers and attend a recognition luncheon.
Hanny Arram Center for Success Student Selected to Represent Nebraska Nationally
The Center is also thrilled to announce that Braedyn Ramer, President of the local JAG chapter at Hanny Arram Center for Success, was selected as one of only two students statewide to represent Nebraska as a Voting Delegate at the National Career Development Conference (NCDC) in Indianapolis, Indiana, in April.
Braedyn earned this prestigious honor after submitting a reflective paper on his personal growth at HACS and receiving a Letter of Recommendation. Voting Delegate carries significant responsibility, including electing National Officers, representing Nebraska’s State Affiliate, and governing organizational affairs. Next week, Braedyn will travel to Omaha to be formally recognized for this remarkable achievement.
Celebrating Student Success at the Hanny Arram Center for Success
“The Hanny Arram Center for Success students put their best efforts into JAG daily. Seeing them succeed in both big and small ways is the most rewarding part of being their teacher,” said Erikka Rhodes, JAG teacher. “JAG has truly found its home within the walls of the Hanny Arram Center for Success.”
Congratulations to all the Hanny Arram Center for Success JAG students for their incredible accomplishments and for representing Kearney Public Schools and Nebraska with excellence!
