KEARNEY — The Kearney Area Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $7,500 in “Building for Tomorrow” grants to eight local nonprofits.
- $500 was awarded to Axtell Area Oratorio Society to help cover expenses for the April 13, 2025 performance of Handel’s Messiah at the Merryman Performing Arts Center.
- $500 was awarded to Banisters Leadership Academy to support their program of building future leaders in the area.
- $2,000 was awarded to Buffalo County Community Partners to help hire a consultant to create a new space for the organization.
- $1,000 was awarded to Crane River Theater to help purchase new computers for their office.
- $1,000 was awarded to Dreamweaver Foundation to help provide live, monthly professional musical entertainment for seven Kearney-area senior communities.
- $500 was awarded to Junior Achievement of Kearney to help cover expenses related to the programs they provide to area youth.
- $1,000 was awarded to Kearney Rescue Cats to help cover vet expenses.
- $1,000 was awarded to Kearney Teen Reach Adventure Camp to help cover the cost of camp for participants. The camp is aimed at area youth that are at-risk or have been or are in foster care.
The “Building for Tomorrow” endowed fund typically grants to projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Grants are made to nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) qualified organizations, or organizations delivering a project or program which have a fiscal relationship with a qualified charity.
Applications are accepted on a bi-annual basis with the next “Building for Tomorrow” grant cycle on Aug. 1, 2025.
