Kearney High School announced an early dismissal at 11:00 AM today due to technical difficulties with the ACT testing platform occurring across the nation. While most testing centers have been affected, the Hanny Arram Center for Success has remained unaffected and ACT testing is continuing as scheduled at that location.
The decision to dismiss students early was made in the interest of providing students with the best opportunity to succeed on the ACT exam. “With the extended delays and technical disruptions, we do not believe today’s conditions offer students the opportunity to perform at their best,” said the Kearney High School administration.
Transportation for special education students will run as previously scheduled to accommodate the early release. No other student transportation will be provided. All extracurricular activities and practices will continue at their regularly scheduled times.
The ACT for Kearney High School sophomores and juniors has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025. On that date, freshmen and seniors will not have school. Any students who began testing today will have their incomplete assessments removed, and a new testing session will be available next week.
Kearney Public Schools is working closely with ACT at both the state and national levels to ensure a smooth and successful testing experience next week.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” the administration added. “Our priority remains giving students the best conditions to succeed, and we appreciate your support and understanding as we navigate this unexpected disruption.”
