KEARNEY — Kearney High School student Ariah Perez has earned a prestigious honor—her artwork, titled “Lady Justice,” has been selected for the 8th annual My Life in Nebraska exhibit at the Nebraska Governor’s Residence.

The exhibit, which runs from May 9 to August 1, 2025, features only 16 pieces from across the entire state.

Ariah’s piece was created in her Printmaking class and stood out for its originality, technical skill, and emotional expression. The selection process was juried in March by Megan Dion of the Nebraska Arts Council, Diane Regner from the Governor’s Residence, and Sara Bihlmaier of the 1516 Gallery in Omaha.

Ariah’s print, Lady Justice, is a powerful and thoughtful work that showcases her technical skill and deep sense of creative expression. Ariah uses art to communicate ideas and reflect on the world around her. Having Ariah’s work selected for the My Life in Nebraska exhibit at the Governor’s Residence is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to her dedication and artistic voice. The My Life in Nebraska exhibit features selected works from the 2025 Scholastic Art Awards of Nebraska. All chosen artworks will be displayed in the lower level of the Governor’s residence from May 9 through August 1, 2025
