GRAND ISLAND — A Honduran man was arrested in Grand Island on forgery charges after a counterfeit check was reported at a Western Union location on Saturday, April 19.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, around 12:50 p.m., officers responded to N. Pine St. in reference to a reported counterfeit check incident.
The officer contacted the suspect who presented multiple forms of identification with different names but advised that his real name was Abraham Mendieta Endara.
Endara was found to be using a fake Arkansas identification card and presented a fake check in an attempt to cash it.
The GIPD noted that Endara has no ties to the community and advised he is a native of Honduras. He was arrested for criminal possession of a forgery device and two counts of forgery.
