FORMER TENNESSEE QB IAMALEAVA NOW AT UCLA AFTER NIL SPAT:
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Nico Iamaleava says he’s heading to UCLA, a week after Tennessee announced the quarterback who helped the Volunteers reach last season’s College Football Playoff was no longer with the program.
Iamaleava issued an Instagram post of himself in a UCLA uniform Sunday.
“My journey at UT has come to an end,” Iamaleava said in the post. “This decision was incredibly difficult, and truthfully, not something I expected to make this soon. But I trust God’s timing, and I believe He’s leading me where I need to be. Even though, this chapter is ending, a new chapter has begun and I am committed to UCLA!”
Various reports said Iamaleava was seeking a big raise in his name, image and likeness compensation after helping Tennessee to its first playoff berth.
GREEN BAY PUTTING FINAL TOUCHES ON NFL DRAFT PREP, THURS-SUN:
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Corey Behnke was a 7-year-old attending a Green Bay Packers preseason game with his grandfather when he pointed to the homes across the street from Lambeau Field and vowed to live there eventually.
Now he has one of the best spots to watch as the NFL’s greatest offseason spectacle takes shape.
The NFL draft’s annual pilgrimage to cities across the league is arriving in Green Bay this week with all the pageantry that comes from operating in the home of the NFL’s only publicly owned franchise.
“I think it’s going to be iconic in a way that other drafts aren’t,” said Behnke, now president of the neighborhood association of the area adjacent to Lambeau Field.
