GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child.
Jonathan Cruz-Lopez, 34, has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class 3A felony and committing intentional child abuse – no injury, a Class 3A felony.
Cruz-Lopez was arraigned in Hall County Court on Friday, May 23 and his bail has been set at 10 percent of $25,000. A preliminary hearing date has been scheduled for June 12 at 9:30 a.m.
According to an affidavit submitted in court, on Thursday, May 22, officers with the Grand Island Police Department responded to Lincoln Ave. for the report of a sexual assault of a six-year-old girl.
During the investigation officers determined Cruz-Lopez has sexually assaulted the six-year-old while lying in bed with her. It was also found that Cruz-Lopez had also sexually assaulted the girl in 2024 while living in the home.
Cruz-Lopez was arrested and booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
