GRAND ISLAND – Three local organizations are feeling the effects of federal cutbacks, three Hall County Commissioners reported at their May 20 meeting.

During the committee reports part of the meeting, supervisors give short reports about meetings they have attended or news pertaining to Hall County government.

Commissioner Pam Lancaster said that the Central District Health Department “has already experienced tremendous cuts from the CDC. They are not replacing two positions at this time.” She said the Department has cut travel and continuing education expenses.

Commissioner Scott Sorensen said that Hall County Transportation has been affected by federal cuts. He said that the local budget could be reduced by 30 percent, mainly because of federal cuts.

Commissioner Jane Richardson said that at the state level, CASA funding has been cut as a result of federal cuts. She described the cuts as significant.
