KEARNEY — Between May 12 and June 1, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Make It Click seat belt enforcement campaign, funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
During this time, deputies worked an additional 55.5 hours of coverage and made 207 traffic stops across Buffalo County.
Highlights from the campaign:
- 28 citations issued
- 179 warnings/defect cards
- 1 citation for a seat belt violation
- 1 citation for a child restraint violation
- 1 citation for handheld device use
- 12 speeding citations
- 3 no proof of insurance citations
- 1 arrest for driving under revocation
The goal of this campaign was simple: encourage seat belt use and help prevent serious injuries and fatalities on our roadways. Every traffic stop is a chance to save a life. Buckle up, every trip, every time.
