KEARNEY — The Kearney High School boys track team was honored by the Buffalo County commissioners during their meeting on Tuesday, June 10 for their second straight state track title win.
The Bearcats defeated Fremont 75-66 to win the title over the Tigers, who scored 50 of their points in the long-distance races.
Kearney was able to counterbalance that long distance threat with the speed of Zaire LaGrone-Miller. LaGrone-Miller won both the 100M (10.51) and 200M (21.50), and was part of the 4x400M Relay team that took 5th (3:21.41). The speed also rolled through with a second-place finish in the 4x100M relay (42.71).
The Bearcats also added a pair of second place finishes from Taj Wilson in the Triple Jump (47-08.25) and Zach Wulf in the Discus (169-04)
