HASTINGS — After a cool start to the week, an active weather pattern will continue through mid-week. Wednesday looks to be the warmest day with highs climbing into the 90s.

A cold front that bisects the area today will try to return north on Tuesday, which would generally suggest the potential for severe weather, but upper-level flow is lacking and only a Marginal Risk, one out of five, has been issued for central Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service – Hastings.

Wednesday looks to be another warm day behind the retreating warm front and looks to be the warmest day of the work week with temperatures rising up into the 90s.

Models indicate the potential for another round of thunderstorm potential Wednesday evening with timing, coverage and location similar to Sunday night along a dry line boundary.

“Both Tuesday and Wednesday could ultimately develop some mesoscale corridors of enhanced severe parameters – but the broader picture doesn’t seem to reveal a significant threat,” per NWS Hastings.

Forecast confidence is lower later into the week but the general trend seems to suggest a dry period Thursday night into Friday and potentially Saturday. There should be another warmup back into the 90s and possibly 100s but winds won’t be as strong as last weekend.

The ensemble models hint at another weak upper-level trough and surface frontal passage in the day six to eight time frame, which will be the next best chances for precipitation.
