KEARNEY — The Kearney Police Department and Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a joint drone training exercise at Cottonmill Park this evening, Monday, June 23, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.
This specialized training will focus on the use of drones in critical public safety operations, including search and rescue of missing or injured individuals and evidence recovery. These scenarios are vital in enhancing the capabilities of local law enforcement to respond effectively in real-life emergencies.
To ensure the safety of the public and the success of the training, certain areas of the park will be temporarily closed, including Old Father Trail and the surrounding area. These sections will be clearly marked with barricades and signage indicating police training is in progress.
We respectfully ask that the public avoid these marked areas during the training hours and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
We would also like to thank the City of Kearney Parks Department for their continued support and assistance. Their partnership allows us to provide the highest level of professional and technical service to our community.
