GRAND ISLAND – A Deputy Hall County Public Defender was found dead in his office in the morning on June 23 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputy Hall County Sheriff Josh Berlie said the attorney was Anthony Wagoner, 38.

Hall County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the Public Defender’s Office at approximately 9 a.m. June 23 regarding a staff member who had died.

Deputies determined that the wound was self-inflicted by gunshot using a 9 mm handgun. According to Berlie, he did not know when the death had occurred.
