LEXINGTON — A man was injured in an industrial accident on Wednesday, June 25 in southeast Lexington.
Lexington Police Chief Paul Schwarz says a call came in around 12:35 p.m. Wednesday to a location on Industrial Road. Lexington Volunteer Fire Department and Priority Medical were also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, Lexington Police Officers discovered an adult male had been caught between a stationary rail car and a moving rail car and had become pinned between them. He had severe injuries to one of his arms. Officers immediately applied their tourniquet and began emergency medical lifesaving measures.
Once Lexington Rescue and Priority Medical arrived, they took over lifesaving measures and transported the victim to the Lexington Regional Hospital. He was later life flighted to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital, for further care. Lexington Police Department Investigators processed the scene.
There was no train derailment. Union Pacific Railroad and the Lexington Police Department will be conducting a follow-up investigation.
Lexington Rescue Chief Al Copper says added that “law enforcement’s quick response as well as a cooperative effort between Lex Rescue and Priority Medical made for quick and professional patient care”.
